1. What has been your Best Life Project to date?

My Best Life Project to date has been writing and publishing my first book. I have been a closet writer since I was a child. By the time I got to high school I had notebooks upon notebooks of journal entries, short stories, song lyrics, one liners, etc. and I never showed a soul out of fear of rejection and ridicule. Into my adulthood I continued to journal and write the occasional poem. I could never really find the time to write a book – an item that has been on my bucket list for at least 15 years. When the pandemic started, life slowed down enough and also allowed me more space to tap into my thoughts and feelings. That’s when I sat down and wrote, Harness Your Inner CEO: Rise Into Your Power, Passion and Prosperity.

And, the reason I call it my Best Life Project is for two reasons. One, I’ve always been a writer and it was the first time I had enough courage to share my writings with other people. Two, it’s a very real and raw story of the realities of being a success-driven woman, a working mom, and all the adversities we face and are challenged to overcome. I feel that this project is on time and will be an anthem for working women around the globe.

2. The unknown … what challenges did you have to overcome?

My biggest challenge has been overcoming the fear that goes along with your work being published. As an artist, writer, creator you pour your heart and soul into your project. It becomes an act of love and dedication and the creation process is something I truly enjoy. Now, the creation process is over. There is a final product. It will now be in the hands of others to decide the fate of my work. Will my work be loved or hated? Respected or disregarded? make an impact or be seen as invaluable. At the end of the biggest challenge I need to overcome is the fear of rejection.

3. In hindsight…..what would you do differently?

I would have worked on overcoming my fear of sharing my work early in life. It’s a sad feeling as a creator to create in solitude and never share your gifts with the world. Even if there are some people that don’t like – there are always more that will. Even in the beta stages of sharing my manuscript with early readers, I found that it was having a profound impact on some and really helping them to shift their perspectives.

4. Next steps?

My book is fully edited and going through the layout and cover design process. Next comes the exciting book launch journey, with an anticipated Autumn 2021 release.

5. What lifestyle changes has lockdown made you consider?

Slowing down. As a Fortune 500 sales executive, a mom, and highly passionate person I am always busy. I love life and want to live it to its fullest. However, there is a point when you are too busy, moving too fast, and there isn’t enough down time to really savour the flavour of life. From lockdown, I have learned that slowing down actually gives more space to enjoy the things you love.

6. Kissing frogs …. is there an unexpected person who has helped you and, if so, how did they do it?

I can only name one person? Another thing that I learned is that there are so many people willing to help you if you just allow it. My coach, Nancy Levin, helped me work through my fear of rejection so that I could move forward with publishing. My editor, Sarah Bossenbroek, believed in my story and really helped bring it to life in a way that was transformative to others. Lastly my project manager, Lynae Looney, believes in my vision, my work, and my book and is passionate on the empowerment crusade with me. All of these people were not in my life a year ago. And yet they all have had a profound impact on me and my work.

7. My Inspiration ….who or what inspires you?

My kids for sure. I am really passionate about leaving behind a legacy they can be proud of embracing. I want to be a change agent in our family lineage and really help the future generations live with more ease and happiness.

8. How do you relax or do you struggle to relax?

I struggle to relax because I am wired for ambition. However, when I do relax I relax big. I love the outdoors and you will find me quite often vacationing on the beach for several days or staying at a vacation rental in the mountains. Add in some yoga and relaxation is in motion.

9. Guilty secret pleasure?

Driving with my windows down and the stereo loud. I love music and the wind in my hair. On the weekends you can find me driving to yoga class, windows down blasting anything from Fleetwood Mac to Korn to Imagine Dragons. I love rock music!

10. Words of wisdom

We are all wired differently and there is a great big world waiting for you and your gifts to show up. Don’t let the opinion of others become the opinion of yourself. Don’t let their limitations become your limitations.
